Scriptures: John 3:16-18; Hebrews 11:17-19; Genesis 22:1-19
Prayer of the Day: Merciful Father, as You provided the ram to die in Isaac’s place, You have given Your only Son to die in our place. Grant us grace to receive the fruits of Christ’s redeeming work with thanksgiving and daily to follow in His way; through Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.  Amen.

Ash Wednesday, 2020

Scriptures: Matthew 16:13-23, 1 Corinthians 15:20-22; Genesis 3:1-19
Prayer of the Day: Gracious God, you created us out of the dust of the earth and breathed into us the breath of life. By your hand we live and to your hands we return when all our days are done. Grant that the awareness of our mortality may lead us not to fear, but to faith. In our weakness teach us to look to you for strength, in our failures to turn to you and find forgiveness, and in our dying to await the gift of everlasting life; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Scriptures: Psalm 51; Mark 7:1-23
Prayer of the Day: Teacher Jesus, too often we blame external people and situations for our heartaches and brokenness. Help us to look inward to uncover and heal the things that defile: bitterness, hatred, jealousy, and greed. Help us instead to be agents of peace, hope, generosity, and love. This we pray in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Amen.
